Drysdale Student Center
Our state of the art student center is the hub of all things Student Activities. You can use the meeting spaces, visit the bookstore, grab some food, and even run in to Dean Eccles before visiting the fitness center or playing some shuffleboard. There’s something for everyone in Drysdale!
A unique art gallery right on campus, The Daura Gallery serves the college and community through its services. Admission is free, so don’t miss out on this cultural opportunity.
Claytor Nature Study Center
Claytor is a 470-acre owned and operated by Lynchburg College which includes an observatory. The center offers various camps, trainings and educational seminars throughout the year, and is also a great destination for any group retreats. Pack a bag, because you can stay in the historic farm house and explore in the property for the whole weekend!
Challenge Course & Climbing Wall
Take advantage of the Outdoor Leadership opportunities! Two favorites are the Challenge Course and the Climbing Wall. The Challenge Course, located just off campus, has both a high ropes course and a low ropes course. The Climbing Wall, located next to Moon Field, is great for small or large groups. Register with Outdoor Leadership before using any of these facilities.
One of LC’s many sustainability efforts; the Bike Shack is a low-or-no cost facility that will repair your bicycle! Reduce your carbon footprint by biking, and use the Bike Shack for all of your bicycle needs.
Beaver Point Clubhouse
Need a back-woods fix? Located just behind Fox Field, Beaver Point Clubhouse is a best-kept secret of campus. Host an event, play volleyball, grill, or relax at the picnic tables while enjoying this beautiful part of campus.
Commemorating the meeting of Christians and Jews, Friendship Circle arguably provides one of the most tranquil spots on campus. With a 360 degree view of LC’s stunning architecture, Friendship Circle is a spot where friends can meet, you’ll run in to your favorite professor, or you can sit on the benches and take in The Dell. Just remember, don’t step on the plaque in the center until after you’ve graduated!
Shellenberger Field & Turner Gym
While on campus, you must visit our athletic venues, including Shellenberger Field. Named after the founding Men’s Soccer coach, Shellenberger Field hosts our NCAA DIII soccer, lacrosse, field hockey, and track & field teams. While there, head inside Turner to the Turner Gymnasium, home to our basketball and volleyball teams. Catching a game at one of our venues is a must. What better way to show your school spirit?!
Elliot & Rosel Schewel Hall
This glass-front building is the hub of all things academia. Use the study rooms, see a show in the Sydnor Performance Hall, or check out the television studio before visiting Career Services to plan your future. Schewel is one place you must explore!
Best of the ‘Burg
The National D-Day Memorial honors the Allied forces that participated in the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944 during World War II. Located in Bedford, VA, this National memorial is a can’t miss for the entire family.
This National Landmark explores the story of Thomas Jefferson in an intimate setting. Thomas Jefferson inherited Poplar Forest from his father-in-law, and the location served significant meaning throughout history. Located in Forest, VA, visiting Poplar Forest should be on everyone’s bucket list!
Alongside the James River, the Blackwater Creek Nature Area and Trail is one of the most popular trails in central Virginia. Take a picture by the LOVE sign, check out the Langley Fountain, or hook a lock on the lock bridge! Just downtown, Blackwater Creek Nature Area and Trail is fun for the whole family, including the dogs!
Lynchburg Community Market
Founded in 1783, the Lynchburg Community Market is one of the oldest community markets in the nation. Located downtown, the community market is a great way to shop local and support our businesses.
Located just over one mile from campus, City Stadium is home to the Lynchburg Hillcats, a Class A Advanced affiliate of the Cleveland Indians.
Wintergreen Resort is one of Virginia’s best ski, snowboarding, and golf getaways. Located just one hour north of Lynchburg, this destination can be the perfect getaway for any group, in any season.
